Studies have shown that massage during pregnancy can be effective at increasing general well-being for the baby and mom-to-be, in addition to relieving many of the aches and discomforts the body experiences during all the changes of pregnancy. Prenatal massage is a mostly Swedish massage, with a therapist who understands where not to massage (some acupressure points are not meant to be stimulated during pregnancy) and who is focused on making you comfortable during the session. After a certain point in the pregnancy, the client will be in a side-lying position, comfortably propped and relaxed on pillows. This is the best position for mom and baby, and it allows the therapist to reach the full range of the body and any areas that need special attention.
